Why self-love is the key to your best life

Let’s talk self-love, the most wonderful and vital thing you should work on to start living your best life now. As I have promised you in my post about how to change your life and find happiness in the new year, self-love is what will take your life-experience to the next level. It will make your goals and dreams possible and it will make you happy. Let’s explore why.

What is self-love?

Self-love is being kind to yourself. It is accepting yourself the way you are, with all your mistakes and flaws, and learning to love them, too. Loving yourself is realizing your true worth, finally seeing that you are an amazing, beautiful and unique human being that is more than worthy of love. It is finally listening to your heart and your true desires. Self-love is being with you, consciously choosing who you are and what you need. It means freeing yourself from the limiting of the outside world and find peace within you. Self-love is living from the inside out instead from the outside in. Self-love is the door to your true authentic self.

Reopen the door to yourself

Self-love is the door to your true authentic self. You open the door to the beauty within you that has always been there. You entered this world as a full, pure, loved and unique individual being, born to give your beauty to this world and live a happy, fulfilled life. Back then, you knew and felt this, but unfortunately, over the years of growing up, you probably lost that knowledge and now, you may be caught in stress, fears and bad beliefs that cause feelings of low self-worth. You may be drowning in negative self-talk, asking yourself why it is so hard to find happiness.

But the only thing you need to learn is to reconnect to those feelings and knowledge you had as a young child. Reopen the door to your true self now.

Why should you start your self-love journey today?

When you start to love yourself, you will be able to break out of your constant resistance towards your truth.

You will learn to listen to your desires and your needs and will give yourself what you need. You will stop lying to yourself and take responsibility for your own happiness, by understanding that you can create your own happiness, without it depending on outer conditions. Yes, you will be able to grow your happiness from within, while being truly connected to yourself.

Self-love will free you out of your self-sabotage and allow you to grow. You will get rid of those limiting beliefs, as well as the thoughts and opinions of other people. When you know your worth, you will stop living for others and start living for yourself.

You will stop fearing mistakes because you’ll know they are what makes you human. You’ll learn to accept your flaws and start to love them as a part of the beautiful you. You will be able to forgive yourself instead of judging yourself.

And those are many, many more reasons!

How to start your journey today

Here is a quick exercise you can do today to start your self-love journey. Take some minutes to sit down and close your eyes. Now lay your hands on your heart, take some deep breaths and feel your chest expanding with every inhale. When you are calm and clear in your head, ask yourself this question:

“How am I today?”

Analyze your day in detail. Take a look at how you have been feeling throughout it and what you were thinking. Analyze your reactions to other people and situations, how your general mood today is, what is keeping you busy… Start from the moment you woke up, up to this very moment.

For example, recall your first thought of the day when the alarm went off. Did you think “Please no, I don’t want to get up”, or “I’ll sleep some minutes more”, or “I am so ready to start this day!”, …? Analyze whether your first thought was positive or negative, and how it affected your mood and your following actions, and finally, your entire day. IMPORTANT: Stay objective and don’t judge.

Do this exercise for 5 minutes every day, and you will learn to analyze your thoughts and how they affect your behavior. You will understand what triggers your (negative) thoughts and how your mood is created. In short, you get a better understanding of your life situation and your own way of thinking and behaving.
This is the first step to connecting to and starting to listen to yourself.

Now thrive!

I truly hope I could get my message through to you and inspired you to take that first step towards your self-love. I swear to you I was almost crying while I was writing this, because of the immense beauty of this knowledge. My heart is filled with gratitude for this knowledge because it is a guarantee for the existence of a happy life in constant well-being. And everybody, also YOU can have that life.

So please, I beg for you to lay your hand on that door handle to your true you and push it down to open up for the beauty within you, and give this world a priceless gift: YOU

  • Indeed, Self love is the key to your best life. Self-love is important and please know that if your soul is calling for a soulmate, the voice in your head shouldn’t be a barrier to love. We should not listen to our inner critic. Because thoughts are not facts. We should never allow negative affect our love for ourselves.

You shared some really wise words… We should be an observer of our thoughts and realise we don’t have to believe them… because in the end, every problem appears only because of our thoughts, and it can make us blind for the actual truth. Thank you for your words!
